- Orbicular Rhyolite or Leopard Skin Jasper is a variety of quartz porphyry containing small phenocrysts of quartz in a microgranitic groundmass of quartz, orthoclase, albite, and mica. The rock has a characteristically spotted or streaked appearance due to staining by hydroxides of iron and manganese. Jasper is usually considered as Chalcedony; The name jasper is derived from the Greek and means "spotted stone".
- Orbicular Rhyolite, also known as Leopard Skin Jasper is a member of the quartz family. Orbiculars features yellow, red and brown color swirled together in unique patterns and banding. Rhyolite was named "streaming rock" because of its beautiful bands, bubbles and crystal-rich layers that form as lava flows onto the surface of the stone.
- Rhyolite is extrusive, which means it is igneous volcanic rock that is formed from volcanic magma that flows or explodes into the atmosphere, making it the chemical equivalent of granite. It is rich in silicon with a texture that can be glassy, fine grain or a mixture of crystal sizes. Many gem deposits can be found in rhyolite. Natural rhyolite displays green, cream and occasional brown tones with patterns and inclusions.
