Our 13" Smokey Maple(tm) Cutting Board measures approximately 5" wide by 13" long (including the handle) and 0.75" thick. The rectangular cutting area measures approximately 9.25" long by 5" wide. This paddle shaped board has a tapered handle with hole for hanging. Crafted from locally sourced, sustainably harvested maple wood. Though significantly darker, these boards are maple, just like the lighter equivalents. The difference is in how the wood is kiln-dried. The Smoky Maple(tm) is heated to a higher temperature - that's it! No chemicals, no short-cuts. The wood has a faint odor that resembles smoke. Again, this merely from the drying process - no chemicals have been added to the wood.
